Position yourself standing on the chair, and grip the handlebars to stabilize your upper body. Slowly raise your legs and pause at the top. Slowly lower your legs back to the ground.

Tip
Don't let the force of gravity pull your legs down. Instead, use control the entire way down, allowing your legs to resist against the pull

Position and Movement
Using a horizontal bar, position your grip on the bar a little wider than shoulder width. Hang from the bar so your legs dangle straight down. Slowly bring your knees up, twisting to the right side as you raise them. Hold the position at the top before slowly lowering your legs to starting position. Repeat on the left side.

Tip
As you become more advanced, try adding a light weight between your ankles to add more resistance to this exercise.


Medicine Ball Trunk Rotation

Position and Movement
Sit on a mat with your legs bent at 90 degrees. Hold the medicine ball in your hands. With your body in a straight position, twist your arms from side to side, bringing your hands high above your head as you twist. Focus on your breathing, and use control to bring your arms down to each side.

Tip
If you don't have access to a medicine ball, use a dumbell instead.


Ab Wheel Roll

Position and Movement
Begin on your hands and knees with the ab wheel in front of you. Grip the handles of the wheel with each hand. Keeping your abs tight and arms straight, slowly roll the wheel out in front of you. Go as far as you are comfortable, hold for a two-count, and then roll back to the starting position.

Tip
Make sure you keep your head and neck up throughout the full range of motion.


Seated Leg Raises

Position and Movement
Sit on a bench or chair. Lean back slightly and stabilize yourself with your arms on the sides of the bench or chair. Raise your legs up, and bring them toward your chest (the closer you bring your knees to your chest, the more of a contraction your abdominals will get). Bring your legs back down, but try not to let them touch the floor.

Tip
You can make this exercise a bit easier by crossing your legs at the ankles during the movement. Avoid tucking in your chin as you do this exercise. Try to look forward.
